CWAM

I just got back from the Colorado Wyoming Association of Museums annual conference in beautiful Sheridan, Wyoming. We (Jason, Erin and I) were lucky enough to stay with our friends Sharie and Todd along with Todd's mom and his two wonderful, super smart son's, Colton and Lane. They just moved into a new mansion! Well, it feels like a mansion. It is a 1911 apartment building. They have 5 bedrooms and three floors of original fixtures including a butler's pantry and built in china hutch in the living room. Plus, the hardwood floors are in great shape. It was magical. I forgot to take more pictures inside the house!

We really enjoyed spending some quality time with our friends and it was so good to see the boys. Lane cooked for us the first night in Sheridan. He is going to be a chef and surgeon when he grows up. Last I heard, Colton was going to be an archaeologist.

Sharie's cat, Penelope and I bonded:
Thursday I co-taught/co-created a helping hands workshop at a very small museum outside of Sheridan. It was a wonderful experience. With the help of about 20 volunteers we rehoused the museum's entire textile collection in acid free boxes, made padded hangers, learned about museum pests, and brainstormed some new ideas for labels. It was a lot of fun.

Friday and Sat. I attended or helped with sessions. I learned about museum expansion (big projects), exhibit design, community based exhibits, educational programs with traveling trunks, fundraising, and collection concerns.

One evening we went to the popular and historic Mint bar in downtown Sheridan. Here are some pictures:

Me and the Girls!Jason spend Friday through Sunday in Gillette, WY getting his motorcycle licence. He was the best student in the class, only missing one point on his riding exam! He had a big smile on his face when we meet up again in Casper. He says he is ready for a Harley and a tattoo!
